![]() My camera was dead after the game so I didn't get any pictures at the street dance on Saturday night which was sort of a shame. It got moved inside the bar due to the soggy conditions, so any chance of decent picture taking was pretty much removed anyway, making it a little more acceptable. Which brings us to Sunday... ...and quite possibly the worst parade in Leonard Fall Festival History. In all fairness, there was definitely a tough act to follow. Last year's procession was additionally commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the town and had a procession so large that the headline "LEONARD PARADE 'FUCKING HUGE' SAY OBSERVERS" properly graced the county's rural paper the next week. Thus, the deck was definitely stacked against the 2007 affair. The grand marshals of this year's letdown were two guys that used to run the clubhouse at the golf course, before the decision was made to take it private and remove "senility" from the management requirements of the surprisingly now-really-nice track. True story: Some friends and I were golfing there in the spring one year when it was fairly wet. As we stood on the tee box to #3, we heard Erling, the guy in the hat in the picture, start grouching right behind us. "It's too wet to be driving carts out here right now!!" he commanded, which probably would have been reasonable advice had he not been sitting in an El Camino at the time. |
